Stan coordinated this small event, which had about 17 cars. That equates to LOADS of track time. So, much fun was had by all. Although. These days don’t come without their fair share of pain and suffering. A few weeks prior to the event, Stan broke a bone in his left ankle. Stan was determined to drive anyway but was plagued by a strange rear brake problem. 2 sets of rear brake pads in less 10 laps.

Kev was sidelined at the end of his first session with a serious motor problem and was to be trailer’d home. We all mourned for his loss, but I hear he will come back stronger and faster.

I brought the Black Beast of Certain Wheel Bearing Failure out for only a few spirited laps in the morning. I wanted to see how the new SSS 450# springs felt. I was pleased with how the results, even with the Ton-Of-Funk in the Trunk.

Bruce Griggs was there to help us Mustang guys out with any questions we had and show us how the Big Boys run the track! Seeing him drive his company car was awesome to say the least. He was being clocked @ 2:04’s with the cyclone, on worn out tires. And worn out indeed! To say that Bruce drives the wheels off this car is an understatement. With 450HP on tap, an RPM limit to the moon, running through single chamber flowmasters(?) is truly something to see first hand. I was very glad I made this event.

My teammate and fellow crack addict, Rob also put on a helluva showing. With some new hoosiers on the front, he went out and ran 2:06’s. We added my camera mount and camera to his car and faced it out the back window. Look for some new angle footage soon! Rob tossed me the keys and I was able to drive this car for the first time on the track. I will just say that Rob really knows the track now and that he REALLY knows how to drive this car! I couldn’t believe how easy it was to lift the inside rear tire during corner exits and the lack of left arm room really makes for some interesting moments for tight turns. As far as my lap times in his car, lets just say Rob would’ve lapped me after 20 laps.

Much to Stan for putting on the event and to Jeff and Brad for letting me test-drive their vehicles. J

Enjoy the pix!
